Today, it is easy to become overwhelmed with options when renovating or building a new deck. So, why choose Duradek? What makes our product so much better than the other options? And most important; Is Duradek right for you? We will help you answer these questions and more.
Is Duradek Right For Me?
If your deck is minimum 18″ off the ground, then Duradek is an option for you. We cannot install on decks/patios that are lower due to ground water evaporation requirements. Next, we need to consider how you want to use your deck and what your waterproofing requirements are. Do you want to have dry storage under your deck? Is your deck over a lower level patio? Is your deck on the roof of a heated living space (i.e. living room/kitchen/heated garage)? Are you frustrated with yearly painting/staining and repair of a wood deck? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then Duradek could be the right fit for you.
But Will It Last?
With our cold Saskatchewan winters and hot summers, Duradek is designed to expand and contract with the changing temperatures. When compared to wood, composite, and concrete, Duradek has a longer life with little to no maintenance required. Duradek membranes will never chip, peel, delaminate or crack. Whereas wood needs yearly painting/staining and replacement of damaged or rotten sections, composites have been known to warp and sometimes fade in a short period of time, and concrete will crack, deteriorate, and shift over time, Duradek will look great for many years with nothing more than regular cleaning.
What’s Special About The Duradek Brand?
There are lots of waterproof vinyl decking options out there, so why Duradek brand? Well, first, Duradek is the ORIGINAL waterproof vinyl decking manufacturer (since 1974) and they have done extensive testing of the product. Time and time again, through third party testing, Duradek has stood up against the competition when it comes to appearance and product wear. Duradek will never need to be recoated to preserve the appearance or waterproof seal. If you have any issues, Duradek offers a 10-year material warranty which includes a 5-year appearance warranty, something no other waterproof vinyl warranty offers. Another good point to keep in mind is that Duradek uses a heat welded seaming system, so you never have to worry about redoing a glued, taped, or chemical seam (customer feedback indicates that non-heat welded seams tend to fail after a couple years).
Finally, Duradek has one of the largest color ranges available. As of now, there are NINE different pattern options, each with a variety of colors available. This means that no matter what color scheme you have for your home, Duradek will have a complimentary option to match.
